![]() ![]() I discover their insecurities, which the antagonist exploits or are the antagonists themselves, and what makes them strong, which helps them (maybe) defeat the antagonist in the end. I discover my characters as I write, unique aspects of their personalities and quirks, but also much deeper things like their core beliefs about themselves, the world, and the people around them. The novels I write are all about characters, and the plots therefore are driven by the characters. My natural inclination is to be a Pantser.
